Our first big stop on our way to Leander, Texas was Fort Worth. My friend from high school told me if we got a chance to stop in Fort Worth that we should swing by the stockyards. I was so glad she tipped me off to this idea. I would have never thought of it on my own and our whole family enjoyed it!
First we hit the visitor center and the kids received sheriff badges. They thought that was pretty cool.
There is a petting zoo in the stockyards and we spent sometime visiting some furry animals. It was a hoot watching the kids feed the animals. Here are a few pictures from our petting zoo fun.
After that we made sure to wash our hands really good and took the kids into a candy store. They bought candy to share with their cousins as well as for themselves. ;-)
Lastly, the whole reason we made sure to stop at the stockyards. Two times a day they do a long horn cattle drive. The kids were excited to see some real cowboys in actions!
It was a lot of fun and we only made it to a few of the activities to do there. We were a little tired and still had a few more hours on the open road before we made it to our final stop of Leander, Texas.
