Family Road Trip to Texas! (Summer Bucket List)

This year our goal was to make it to Texas and spend some time with Uncle Keith, Aunt Julie, Brianna and Carter.  The kids have been looking forward to the trip since we told them about it.  We left Kansas City on Friday night and drove through the night, hoping to keep the stops at a minimum.   We made it just in time to see the sun rise in Texas!

The goal was to leave about 8pm, but we did not head out of town till 10pm.  Cameron was out before we we hit the state line of Kansas!  Matthew and Zachary made it a bit longer and Elizabeth, I thought was never going to go to sleep!  I think she may have dozed off a bit here and there, but I remember her talking to us around 2:30 am.  I was shocked she made it that long!

I made the kids maps of the route we were taking to Texas.  These were a huge hit and did help with the question are we there yet.  But it brought on the question “What state are we in right now?”

We stopped at the rest area once we passed the Texas state line to take a potty break and let daddy rest for a bit.  It was mommy’s turn to drive again.  We did get out and stretch our legs a bit and took some fun pictures!

We then headed to Fort Worth for some breakfast.  Of course the kids wanted McDonald’s, so we made sure to find one with a play place.

Our next stop was the Fort Worth Stockyards!  That will be a post all on it’s own.

Looks like the trip was a success! Love the pic by the Texas sign at sunset.

Yup, we’d have to say it was a success too. The kids loved going to Texas, and it was nice not having to stop as many times to do potty breaks.
