One of the things we enjoy doing as a family is playing games. Games are such a fun way to teach so many skills! (Yes, the teacher in me is coming out.) Of course with 4 most the games that are age appropriate for them are for 4 children. So who ever is playing with them usually is a “referee.” Yes, I truly feel like a referee sometimes with all of them playing a game.
Our very first family game night was New Years Eve. I took tons of pictures and thought I would share. Many of the games we played were gifts for Christmas, plus a few we already had. It was a ton of fun and we have held a few since then.
Here the kids are playing their fishing game. Most of the time they decide that using the fishing poles is just a hassle and end up trying to just grab the fish with their fingers.
These next two are of the game Pop the Pig. They absolutely love this game. You head the pig hamburgers and push his head the number of times on the hamburger you drew. Once his belly is full he pops. Of course the kids jump for joy when Pop the pig bursts.
This next one is Doggie Doo. Not my favorite game in the world. Kind of gross. But is does teach great turn taking, counting, and some aspects of taking care of a dog.
Daddy and Zachary are playing break the ice. Which is another favorite around this house. This one is one that needs a referee since there are only 2 hammers.
The kids were so excited about receiving Hungry Hungry Hippos. We do play this one a lot and for the most part the kids can play this on their own. They just need help putting it together and taking it apart.
It is amazing how quickly they pick up how getting doubles in Candyland means you could get to the castle faster. Or how landing on a ladder in better than a chute in Chutes and Ladders. `
Another McCleary Quadruplet fave is their Leap Pad 2s. The kids ended up playing games on those on New Years Eve game night when they were getting tired. I was shocked they made it till about 10:30…normal bed time is 8, so I thought that was pretty good.
I hope that many of you have family game nights. They are so much fun and make for some great memories. We would love to hear what your kids favorite games are or a family favorite…we do have to start birthday shopping. ;) Just leave us a comment with yours, we would appreciate it!
