Snow Day part 2

We had a nice break in all the snow coming down around lunch.  We decided to eat lunch and take the kids out for a bit.  I had them wear two pairs of sock, two pairs of pants, two long sleeve shirts, two pairs of mittens, their heavy coats, scarves, and hats.  I did not want them getting cold right away and I was hoping the extra layers would allow them to really have some fun!

I was so right.  The minute we opened the garage door they were knee deep or higher in some drifts.  There was a huge drift in front of the garage we had to make it over first.  It was fun to watch how each of them had different approach.  Elizabeth started digging, Matthew jumped right in, Cameron one foot at a time, and Zachary tried to step over and fell right in the drift.

They were all over the place, jumping, digging, throwing, and laying in the snow.  They had so much fun just trying to walk because it was so deep.  I heard so many giggles and “Mommy look at me!”  I know they had a grand time.  Elizabeth made several snow angels while Matthew enjoyed shoveling and throwing snow at us.

Cameron liked digging to try and find the ground and Zachary was having fun walking about and falling in the drifts of snow.  Needless to say they were covered in snow when it was time to come in the house.  They wanted to stay out longer but their poor little noses and cheeks were getting so rosy I knew we had to come in to warm up.mccleary_quads_snow52

We came in and took off all their layers. (That was a chore four times over)  They took a warm bubble bath and were off to naps.  They slept quite awhile…I think their snow adventure wore them out.  By the time they woke up our second round of snow moved in to the area.  We already have a foot in and higher drifts.  I think they said to expect another 2-4 inches!  I also found out that school was cancelled tomorrow, so I am off with the kids again for some more snow day adventures tomorrow!  Stay safe and warm everyone!!!!
