Our little Chefs

One of the kids favorite things to do around the house is to help cook.  They absolutely love adding ingredients, measuring, mixing, and of course sneaking bites.  I try to let them help whenever I can, but of course somethings they can not do.  Some times they help me one at a time and other times it is one big cooking party.  This weekend we made bagel pizzas and they helped  all together.  They spread the sauce, sprinkled the cheese, and very strategically placed the pepperoni.

I have found that bagel thins make a great crust for personal pizzas.  They taste delicious (tried it before my diet change) and seam more like a pizza crust than english muffins.  So the kids started with those and then spread the sauce.  Next we topped the bagels with lots of mozzarella cheese and lastly we added the pepperoni.  The kids could barely contain themselves while their pizzas cooked.

They each picked out one they wanted to eat and made the rest for daddy.  I could not enjoy the end product because the bagels were not gluten free.  I was totally okay with it…we had made the same thing at school and I did take gluten free hamburger buns and made myself a version I could enjoy with the kids and by dinner time I had my fair share.

When it was finally time to sit down and eat the kids dug right in.  They were a big hit and we will definitely be making them again!

That is a really fun dinner idea. It is great that they can be involved in the whole process and are super excited by the time their pizzas come out of the oven. They enjoy them with a sense of pride in their creations.

We will have to try that some time!
