Last week we spent an afternoon making chocolate chip cookies. The kids were very excited about making them because they knew when they were done they would get to eat some. We measured all the ingredients and followed the directions on the back of the chocolate chip package. We did make a bit of a mess, but that is what happens when you are cooking with all those ingredients! They each had a turn adding items to the batter. They kept asking if it was there turn. We went around the table and within a couple of rounds they would say it was Matthew’s turn now, or Elizabeth’s turn now, or Cameron’s turn now, or Zachary’s turn right now.
I put them in the oven and set the timer and every time the timer went off they would ask if the cookies were done. We had to talk about them cooling off before we ate them. I wish I would have taken pictures of them enjoying them, but I had an evening out with a friend. It was great to get out of the house and catch up with Sarah. We came back to the house to watch a movie and we both fell asleep on the couch. She ended up staying the night and the kids loved having Sarah here when they got up the next morning! Thank you Sarah for taking me out for a belated birthday dinner and hanging out with the kids and I the next morning!
