While the parents are away…

A few weeks back we used our prize package we won from the Scared of Santa contest in December from Fox 4.  The package was from McCarthy auto group in Olathe KS.  We had a room for one night at the Inn at Weston Landing, a car for the weekend and spending cash for the weekend!  We picked up the vehicle Saturday morning, it was a Nissan Armada.  We absolutely loved it other than the gas mileage and the price tag.  It was brand new fully loaded and the retail tag they are selling it for was $51,000!  The gas mileage was 12 miles a gallon.  So we could never really afford it, but it was great for the weekend.  It was huge and actually can seat 8…so had plenty of room for all of us.  It had so many bells and whistles I am not even sure if I used them all.  I did love the backup camera, heated seats, display on the dash, and much more.  Elizabeth asked if we could drive it to Tennessee to see Aunt Julie, Uncle Keith, Brianna and Carter.  It was so sweet they way she asked.

After we picked it up we took the kids to Olive Garden for the first time.  They each got their own meal ( usually order 2 and split).  We had lots of leftovers!  Between Randy and I we took kids to the bathroom 5 times in a matter of an hour and a half.  It is funny how things have changed when we are out.  After lunch we took the kids home for a nap and got ready for our night away.  My mom stayed with all four kids here at our house and was ready to go home when we returned.

We absolutely loved the Inn at Weston Landing.  It was cozy, quiet, and relaxing.  The rooms were furnished with antiques, was originally part of the brewery across the parking lot and had been redone into the inn.  The room was stocked full of goodies and so was the rec room in the basement.  Randy and I had a great night just relaxing and watching  movie on my laptop.  The next morning we had a wonderful breakfast prepared by the inn keeper ( who was so sweet!)  Of course we did have to come home and the kids were rearing to go when we go back.  We did miss them, but it was great to have a relaxing evening to ourselves.

We took the car back Monday morning and the kids were sad to see it go.  Overall it was a great weekend and loved having a little break.
